Some announcements to make.
I’m switching to a batch only release format for all new projects so I won’t release a series until all of its bdmv is out. It’s much more motivating for me as the projects don’t get drag out for months. The quality of the release will be more consistent and you guys won’t have to deal with my constant v2+ and re-encode anymore.
I’m picking up two new projects, the first season of Black Lagoon and the second season of Spice and Wolf. I will be using R1 subs for both of them. They will keep me occupied until all the bds of the spring season are out. I keep a more update to date plans on my irc’s topic.
On the ending note, it’s Holo, not Horo because Horo is just retarded.

I don’t mind waiting for a perfect batch but I sure hope you’ll do them in 720p this time. Your recent trend of huge 1080p-only batches is kinda restrictive to some people, myself obviously included. 720p can be the perfect balance of filesize versus quality and is a lot less heavy on people’s computers. Not to mention, you won’t have to upload as much, which is a little bit of a benefit for you, eh?
With Black Lagoon, how do the R1 subs compare with KAA/Shinsen? I watched KAA back in the day and the Shinsen translation they used was a sexy piece of script work in my opinion. Thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. Certainly was the perfect show for Shinsen’s liberalness to really shine! I hope the R1 subs have at least some of that flavour.
Heh, like most lupine lovers who devoured the early spicy wolf fansubs, I too once refused to accept anything less than the purity of Horo! However, with the indiscretions of youth far behind me, I have to admit Holo DOES kinda grow on you. Like a tasty, tasty mushroom.
Will they both be Dual Audio?
My standard for my releases has grown quite a bit in terms of encoding, typesetting and timing ever since I started. I’m putting a lot more time and effort in my release than before. I don’t have the motivation to make a version that I’m not going to keep while maintaining this standard. It’s a compromise I have to make to not burn myself out. So it will be 1080p only. But yes, not having the need to upload as much and able to go at a slower pace is working better for me.
The phrasing of Shinsen’s is actually stiffer and doesn’t flow as well as the R1 as the R1’s editing is better. This is even more pronounce when I compare R1 of S&W to Mazui’s. I will tightening the timing as I know the R1s have less than ideal timing.
It will not be dual audio, as I will encode them from the Japanese BDs.

Spice & Wolf!! awesome. I kinda liked “Horo” though, I guess the previous subbers did, too. Elysium had an OK release of the second season, but encoding could definitely be improved upon and there were typo’s remaining in there batch which is a big no.

i think that batchs only is bad idea, if you will do any minor mistake you will have to reupload the whole thing, while if you keep releasing Vols one at a time instead and people will report it have mistake/error , you will fix it and include the ultimate pack at the batchs
it good way to avoid patchs too which you said you don’t going to include anyway
Why would I need to reupload? I’ll just put up patches if people find enough errors.

There is only one volume left for Kyoukaisen, so I’ll release the final batch at the end of the month barring any delays.
Black Lagoon’s english was actually good. It would be so good to have it in dual audio along with well encoded video. Please can you do something about it. I will download your release but for many without the english audio it wouldnt be the version to keep.
It’s not included in the Japanese BD, OZC went full retard by using HE-AAC and I’m not going to resync the English dub from the R1 DVD, because that is way too much effort for something I care little about. But I have to admit, the English dub is good.

He either does 1080p, or if he doesn’t deem it worthy: 720p. No compromises, no dual releases, and no more split releases.

Are you going to do the Durarara BD, it would be great if you did, i have all of TV broadcast, if you do please make it 720p and not 1080p becuase 1080p looks too upscale.?
you should be using niizk or KAA for subs…then if there is any little mistakes…fix them…thats what I do for my releases ..use the best quality style fansubs…then just edit them if need be…R1 is fucking crap localized shit..one other thing to…you pretty much have to do both seasons of black lagoon since I don’t think most people consider it to be 2 seasons….what it really was is 1 season the producers decided to split into 2…so better be ready to do the 24 eps or w/e..you should get help if you need it
There is nothing I should do, nothing I have to do, only what I want to do. Obviously you have no idea how much works a release involves. You should know by now what my subs’ preferences are by now, considering how much I used Commie/gg/Whine. Also, your “releases” aren’t qualify as releases, it’s just a bunch of weeaboo editing. It’s weeaboos like you that hold fansub’s translations back from what real translations are, conveying meaning and intents instead of translating the words literally. If you don’t like it, feel free to get it from someone else.

Well if you only plan on releasing the Japanese BD with subtitles then guess I will just re-time the English audio to it, shouldn’t be too much of a hassle plus the video you encode will be epic from what I saw with your Witch Blade encode. So I look forward to it.
I assume you’re talking about Black Lagoon, not Spice and Wolf and that you have access to the untouched
or a decently transcoded (i.e. not aac-he and at a decent bitrate)English audio from the R1’s dvds. If so, I wouldn’t mind including them in my release if you’re going take the hassle to retime it. Contact me on my irc channel if you want do this.Alright I finally got a friend of mine to rip for me the audio untouched of course. Now which format would soot you best .dts or .flac?
Scratch that I decided to go with the .flac version since it is if a higher bit-rate, so just let me know when you are available.
If the original audio is in dts, I’ll prefer you’ll leave it as is, since it’s lossy. Leave me a message on my main irc channel. I’m almost always there. I’ll give you workraws to time it to.
Black Lagoon is getting a UK BD release next month http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lagoon-Complete-Season-Collection-Blu-ray/dp/B0087DGB28/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1340915030&sr=8-1 and will most likely have lossless English audio on it as well. Why not wait and use that as your source instead of re-syncing the dub?.
Assuming someone will upload that bdmv, I may need to re-sync it anyway because I will encode it from the Japanese BDs (generally the Jap BDs are better than the NA’s or EU’s BD). Dan-Den already offer his service so it’s less work for me and the lossless audio won’t matter that much since I’ll re-encode it in AAC.
Okay,jap bd lagoon looked like crap and the uk will most likely be better.Using JP for no reason is stupid ,compare the sources first before encoding.
For the love of god, please do a 1080p batch for Chihayafuru. NO ONE ELSE is doing it and it’s the best serie to come out in years …
